Jack Lafferty Community Service Scholarship

The Jack Lafferty Community Service Scholarship awards the top two eighth grade volunteers with a scholarship presented during the eighth grade promotional exercise. 

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR JACK LAFFERTY SCHOLARSHIP

Students may begin submitting hours in September of their 7th Grade year, and may continue until May 22 of their 8th Grade Year.

What types of community service qualify?

Volunteering (hours must be UNPAID) at:

- PTA Events

- Helping after school advisors with clubs for younger students

- STUCO and/or NJHS after school events (not meetings)

- Evening events at school (not performances - events where you are helping to successfully run the event with staff)

- Volunteering time outside of school hours 

- Assisting coaches with younger teams

- lawn care/house assistance 

- Nursing homes/churches/senior centers/animal shelters

- Junior firefighting activities 

- If you are unsure about if an activity will count, please speak to one of the 8th grade advisors

*Hours not submitted using the online form will not count.
